Hello  Mary Ann,

I have seen a talking thermostat from the Independence Market at the
National Federation of the Blind. The description does not mention anything
about needing an internet connection or a smart phone to use it.

I have also seen talking thermostats advertised through Consumers Energy as
a way to save money on heating bills. They have a number of different models
at various price points. 

Hopefully these options point you in the direction for something that works
for you.

We still have a talking thermostat from the talking thermostat company in
Minnesota that is now out of business.  Does anyone know of a comparable
thermostat?  If so, where can one be purchased?
