Hi all,
I'm forwarding an announcement from the Governor's council on
Disability offering training in the legislative process at various levels. All
the training is free but you have to provide your own travel and lodging.
Several of the webinar and legislative classroom training have already passed
so if anyone is interested, apply soon.
I'm planning to attend.

Subject: 2011 Legislative Education Project
The Governor’s Council on Disability has made changes for the 2011
Legislative Education Project (LEP):
To participate in the LEP individuals or organizations must register
online for a webcast that discusses how a bill becomes a law and how to become
your own self advocate at the Capitol. Once the webcast is completed, the
individual or organization may continue their learning experience by
selecting a one-day or two-day training at the Capitol. The two-day training
provides a more intensive learning process. The individual or organizations are
encouraged to schedule an appointment with their representatives or
senators prior to coming to the Capitol. LEP at the Capitol is facilitated by
mentors who are knowledgeable on disability policies. The mentors will escort
the individuals or organizations at the Capitol.
The Governor’s Council on Disability does not charge a fee for the webcast
or the training materials and information provided during the LEP. Each
participant is responsible for his or her own food, travel, and lodging
expenses.
To obtain an LEP certificate of completion an individual or organization
must complete the webcast and attend the LEP at the Capitol.
Step 1:
Sign up for the webcast. Please register as early as possible since space
is limited.
