I just got back from Boise last night, but there may be other options for
less than the full amount.  There is the Multiple Sclerosis Society, which
might have lots of information.  Also if she has Medicaid and/or Medicare
and a recommendation from a doctor, there might be some help.  I sure think
she should talk to hospital social workers, because they sometimes have
sources.  There must be a hospital where her physician is affiliated,  There
be other sources like Lutheran Services, even general reha b. Part of this
is just being creative in her search.  Maybe she has someone who can help
with that.
