Randy

I have had  to  get rid of  these wonderful  critters-----the best treatment  to me  is  prevention--use Tea Tree oil in  shampoo--yr round really works!!!!
Granted the  smell is  a bit strong  only need a few drops  per bottle---tea tree oil works on  a bunch of other things too!!
Hopes this helps  some.

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Fathers Day and Happy Fathers Day to
all you dads out there.

I have a question that I guess should be directed to you parents..  OK here
is my question, hypothetically as blind and/or low vision parents how do
you deal with an outbreak of head lice?  I know that I cannot be the first
to ask this question.  I know that you could always ask a fully sighted
family and/or friend to assist you but that is embarrassing and sometimes
they agree to help you but you can tell that they really do not want to.
Also what if you are in a situation where family and/or friends are NOT
close enough to you geographically and/or socially to make it feasible to
ask?

To fully sighted individuals this, while being a pain and embarrassing, is
doable but I cannot figure out how someone who has low and/or no vision can
solve this problem independently.

Let me thank you in advance for your thoughts and comments on this
hypothetical but common problem.

Thanks,
Randy Carmack

Randy:
It's fun!  First, I found people in my church who worked for the schools and
so didn't find the problem horrific.  The problem is after you have washed
the hair to comb through with a comb that comes with the special shampoo and
get all the nits.  They won't let a kid back in school till they can't find
any.  The other thing, I found a school who let me go from school to school
with her and she combed Brenda's hair till everything was gone.  Third, you
can take your kid to chilldren's hospital. They have a special light which
helps them see lice.  Debbie Wunder has a story about her experience.  Seems
to me that nits are white, so they are easier to see in dark hair--right up
by the root.  Good luck!
Susan Ford
