It went great. Fox Four TV came to my Home and Interviewed me. It was played
on the 9 pm and 10 pm News. Lots of recognition was given to the NFB because
we secured Dakota a Cane ASAP and also offered to help Educate the North
Kansas City School District and be an advocate with the Parents. The School
District sent a Press Release to Fox Four TV apologizing and said they made
a big mistake and that this will never happen again.

Hello All,

Thanks to All especially Gary Wunder, Jeff Wright and Lawrence Lux for
notifying us of the Kansas City Cane situation. As of now, the North Kansas
City School District has returned the Cane to Dakota. They have sent out a
Press release stating that they made a very bad mistake and that it would
not happen again. Since Shelia is out of Town, I will give a News briefing
on Camera for the 5-30 PM Fox Four TV News Station. Ruby Polk

I am sure many of you have read the story about the North Kansas City school
that took away the cane of an eight-year-old child and tried replacing it
with a swimming pool noodle. We have written to offer the child a free white
cane, have made an offer to the school district to become involved, and have
suggested to the parents that we might be worthy advocates if they need. On
a very refreshing note, Lawrence Luck called the superintendent of the
school, his call was returned, the superintendent said that the actions of
the school were unfortunate and would not happen again, and it is definitely
Lawrence's take that the school is interested in learning and doing right by
the young man. I'll be interested in hearing if others of you have
reactions. Hats off to Lawrence for this contact.
