In short, St. Louis City passed a minimum wage ordinance. 

 

Typically, as you may know, these local min wage ordinances explicitly state
that workshops (those with 14(c) certificates) are exempt. 

 

In St. Louis, advocates with disabilities worked hard to get that exemption
removed. The 4 workshops in StL are pretty incensed and have pushed them
hard to reconsider. 

 

We do not want the exemption added back in so are reaching out to those
organizations locally, statewide and nationally who have a record of
advocacy against sub-minimum wage to ask if they would consider weighing in
with the Aldermen in St. Louis City. 

 

They will re-consider this provision of the bill on September 11th. Here's
