Hello,
Sorry I am just getting time to respond to your message. I had been staying the night at the hospital with my mom since Thursday. They just sent her home yesterday on hospice.
That is very true for us... When we buy car insurance it does cover the driver and passengers. I did talk to and attorney and the cab companies do not insure the passengers, only the drivers. We didn't believe it but it is true.
There is a case today in the courts where a man [the passenger] was paralyzed in a cab accident and the cab company will not be responsible and is not accepting the responsibility for the accident nor that man's injury.
All of this is because of the cab legislation.

Thanks,
   Kim K

Hi, Kim. I am highly skeptical about the claim that you are not ensured by the cab company. When we buy car insurance, we buy liability insurance. I believe that covers not only those in the other vehicle but those riding with us. That is why cab insurance is so high. Get a consultation with a lawyer, the first one is free, and see if you have a case.
