Well, I am certainly glad she encouraged you to participate actively. The NFB is better for it.

You just never know. That person you just recruited or are mentoring might turn out to be a great leader in a few years.

When I joined the national Federation of the blind back in 1972, I was encouraged to participate actively by Mary Willane. Many of you know her as Mary Lewis. Mary has struggled for the last decade with an embolism and repeated strokes. At 9:45 this morning she gave up the fight. I will provide more information as I get it about funeral arrangements, and I will do what I can to write an article for her that we may wish to run in the Blind Missourian.
