Dear Friends:

Today the NFB of Colorado had a Zoom Conference Call on Technology.

These are some of the topics covered:

Orbit will sell a Braille writer for $99 that you will be able to use with your smartphone or computer

Orbit will also sell the Orbit Reader 20+ for $699. This is an upgrade to the standard Orbit Reader 20. If you have a standard Orbit Reader you will be able to upgrade it.

Orbit will sell a 40 cell Braille display for $1399.

The Blind Shell cell phone is an easy to use cell phone that has speech and buttons. You can read this article that appeared on the March, 2020, issue of the Braille Monitor.

Apple releases iOS and iPadOS 13.4.1 with fix for FaceTime bug.

There was a brief mention of the WayLink scanner and WayAround app.

Meet Me Accessibly - A Guide to Zoom Cloud Meetings from a Blindness Perspective is written by Jonathan Mosen. It explains how to use Zoom with speech on the smartphone and computer. It is now free.

I am currently reading this book and I am finding it to be very informative.

APH will release new Braille displays. The Chameleon is a 20 cell Braille display and the Mantis Q40 is a 40 cell Braille display with a QWERTY keyboard.

The ECHO Show is a smart speaker and it has a 10.1 screen.

"We are now offering JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion free of charge for personal computers at home, until June 30, 2020."
