[NFBMO] Reopening an RSB Case

This definitely should not be the case. I have seen cases get opened and a determination of eligibility occur in one day. I doubt if it happens very frequently but it can happen. One way to expedite a case if you are on SSI or SSDI is to submit a copy of your award letter which indicates you are receiving benefits based on blindness. It is called presumed eligibility.

Getting the state of Missouri to expedite anything, LOL. Good luck but expect that it will take 3 to 6 months just to get your case opened.

Hi Linda,

Call 1 (800) 592-6004 and tell them that you want to reopen your case. They will refer you to an RSB counselor, who will help you complete most of the paperwork over the phone. You’ll need to have a current I exam. The counselor also will come out to your house, to get more details on why you need to reopen your case. I did this about a year ago. It took about a month. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Mike

Hello all. I have been working in a part time job for 10 years, where the hours have been dwindling lately, to about 8 a week. What is the process for getting an RSB case reopened? Does it have to be a long, drawn out process? I have found a program that would give me the training I need to find a better job, that I will definitely need financial help with, but I only have a little less than a month to get into it. I’m hoping maybe some of you who have been here before, may have some tips on how I can expedite the process, if it is at all possible? Thanks.
