A Resolution Regarding Safety and the establishment of Safety Procedures
and a Safety Committee for the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri
by Amy Wilson
Whereas, the safety and well-being of members and participants of the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri are of paramount importance; and
Whereas, there is a need to establish safety procedures to ensure the readiness and response to emergencies at in-person events and away from events; and
Whereas, the absence of defined safety policies and procedures may endanger the health and safety of individuals in case of emergencies: Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri in Convention assembled this 13th day of April in the City of Kansas City, Missouri, that
1. The affiliate shall establish a Safety Committee consisting of members and leaders responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of safety procedures, first aid, and CPR training;
2. The Safety Committee shall be tasked with developing clear protocols for who needs to be contacted in the event of emergencies at in-person events and away from events;
3. The Safety Committee shall collaborate with relevant stakeholders to create and maintain a comprehensive safety policy that outlines procedures for handling emergencies;
4. The affiliate shall ensure that the Safety Committee provides regular updates and recommendations on safety procedures and policies to the leadership and members;
5. The affiliate shall allocate resources and support for the training and development of members and leaders in first aid, CPR, and emergency response protocols;
6. The safety procedures and policies developed by the Safety Committee shall be communicated to all members and participants of the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri.
