Subject: [NFBMI-Talk] nFB Of Indiana: Announcing Raffle For A Focus 40 Blue Refreshable Braille Display
Reply-To: NFB of Michigan Internet Mailing List <nfbmi-talk at nfbnet.org>

Greetings to all supporters of and allies with the National Federation of
the Blind of Indiana.

The following is a personal appeal from me, done in the name of the Indiana
State Affiliate. It is not tied to our upcoming State Convention.

I have in my possession a 40-cell Focus 5 refreshable Braille display from
Freedom Scientific. It is not brand-new, but it is gently used and just
this week it came back from the factory fully cleaned and refurbished. (Ten
of the Braille cells were replaced.) Everything functions as new.

For anyone who wants a chance to win this Braille display, you can purchase
one ticket in my raffle simply by making a contribution in the amount of
$20.00 to the NFB of Indiana. You do not need to be present at our State
Convention of 2025 to win.

The Focus 5 serves very capably as a "slave" Braille display when connected
to an external device such as a PC, phone, or tablet. It connects via
either Bluetooth or USB-C connection. But in addition, the Focus 5
contains a micro-SD card, and on that card you can store in read files that
are in Braille Ready Format (BRF). In this way I have read many Bookshare
offerings.

The display comes in a padded carrying case. When I originally purchased
the Focus 5 from Vispero near the end of 2022, I did not receive a charging
cord or adapter from the company. But I will include in the package the
Focus 5 in its carrying case, and I will throw in two USB-C cables that may
be used for charging this display: one cable with a large USB-A adapter on
one end and a USB-C adapter on the other end and the second cable which
will have a USB-C adapter on each end. If requested, I also will throw in
two wall plug charging blocks: one for USB-A and the other for USB-C.
