Travel from Billings to Missoula, depart at 1:30, arrive in Missoula about 7
pm, so that really isn't an issue.

If it were me, I would stay home than to do an over nighter just to get to
Billings, and then have to do the same thing to get home again after
convention.
How dreadful is this?
