[Nfbmt] orientation & snow shoveling of sidewalks

We have a neighbor with a snow blower who does the whole sidewalk down the
length of our street.  
We pay him to mow our lawn in the summer and shovel our sidewalk in the
winter.
There are plenty of people who don't seem to shovel ever, though.
I have hefted a shovel or several in my time.
I don't mind doing it if it's not too cold or the ice isn't caked on too
thick.
