Hi Joy. I was replying to you late last night when Randi reminded me that we
had to get up early this morning to catch our flight so I had to go. You're
such a cool person. You probably won't believe this but I have four grand
children also. Well, you might believe that because I'm not sure if I've
told you how old I am. I just turned 37 in November. My step daughter made
me a grandma when I was just 28 years old! Now Randi and I have four
granddaughters between my two step kids. My two sons, John and David are
growing up playing with their nieces because they're all close to the same
age. It's weird sometimes. We got some really good news over Christmas
break. My step son and his wife and daughter, who we are very fond of, were
home visiting for Christmas and he applied for a job in Missoula and he got
it so they will be moving back to Missoula from Monroe WA which is north of
Seattle so they've been far away for about two years now and we are all so
thrilled that they are moving back, the kids and Randi and I. When Casey,
Kris and our granddaughter Madison lived in Missoula before, they were over
at our house literally every day hanging out with us because we are all so
close and when they moved about two years ago so Casey could find a good
paying job, it was so difficult for all of us. We've all been waiting for
an opportunity like this one to open up for him so they can afford to live
back in Missoula and now it's happened. Casey is just my sstep son but I
love him very much and he loves me also, we've become very close over these
many years since I came into their lives when Randi's first wife left him
after he went blind many years ago. I have a strong sense that the Lord has
His hand in this relationship somewhere, that is how I feel about my step
son. He has a very sweet spirit. I remember so many years ago when Randi
and I were just dating, everyone saw that we were serious about each other
and young Casey asked his dad one time, "Becca's blind. How can she be a
mom to me?" When Randi told me of Casey's concerns, my heart flowed over
with compassion for that little boy and he's been so delightful ever since
also. We got up at quarter to three this morning so we could catch our
flight. We will be home late on Friday night. I know the treasure state
chapter meeting is this Saturday morning and I'm hoping I can make it, I may
be too tired. Give me a call if you want to chat.
Becca
P.S. Thanks again for the fact sheets:)

I'm 62 and I'm just wondering because one of these old days I'm going to
need to know. LOL I work (making more than minimum wage) but I also am on
SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance), and there is a limit to how
much you can earn and still keep your disability payments. It's not like
some things where you drop off gradually; you either get them or you don't.
After you become old enough, that no longer applies and you can work and
still collect Social Security. I don't know what the earnings limit is for
just being old, though.

I don't consider myself old yet, either. I don't usually feel old and I
don't sound old. My body has not yet begun to rebel, and I know it was just
the other day that I was in high school. Or was that college. Anyway, my
kids have no business being as old as they are, because I'm certainly not.
And my grandkids? Forget about it. What do you mean the oldest ones are
fifteen, thirteen, and soon to be thirteen? My oldest granddaughter is
certainly not going to be thirteen. She'll give her daddy fits. I heard
through the grapevine that she already has a boyfriend. Boy am I going to
laugh watching her daddy get through the teenage years with his kids.

Hi Joy. Why are you inquiring about getting old? I've met you and you are
one of the last people I would consider "old." I am just poking fun at you.
I'm growing fond of you, reading your posts. I hope you can find the
answers you seek:)

Does anybody know what happens when you become old instead of just being
disabled? Do you change money boxes? At what age do you become old enough
for Social Security? Does the amount change from what the disability amount
is? Am I correct that after you become old, you can earn more and still
keep your Social Security than you can when you're just disabled? I thought
it was something like forty thousand dollars or something. Does anybody
else know?
