The National Federation of the Blind of Montana has just concluded its 2nd annual convention this weekend of October 10-12, 2014, held in the Capitol City of Helena, Montana.

Our NFB national representative was the President of the NFB of Colorado, Scott LaBarre.

His presence was just the right touch of wisdom, encouragement, and fun we needed. A great time. Thank you, Mr. LaBarre!

Also attending our convention, and coming up from the Colorado Center for the Blind was our first & founding affiliate President, and still a much valued voice, Dan Burke. Thank you, Dan! Many of us hope to win the grand prize Colorado raffle at your upcoming convention!

Now, the Montana affiliate wishes to share with our Federation affiliate brothers and sisters our state election results.

Here are our newly elected officers and board members:

The newly elected officers are:

President, Joy Breslauer, Great Falls

1st Vice President, Sheila Leigland, Great Falls

2nd Vice president, Donna Harris, Helena

Secretary, Jim Marks, Helena

Board member, James Aldrich, Billings

Board member, Jeff Haworth, Billings

Two other board members will continue to serve out the rest of their terms. They are:

Board member, Rebecca Stewart, Missoula

Board member, Stacie Huff, Billings

Our NFB of Montana Treasurer was re-elected for another 2-year term:

Ted Robbins, Great Falls

Congratulations to all. And the rest of our convention assembled will do all we can to support them. We resolve to continue growing our affiliate and providing support and information for the blind community of Montana and the programs of the NFB. We have much to do. And much love, hope and determination to make it all happen.

Sincerely,

Rik James, Bozeman

outgoing First Vice President, but not going away! Rather I am a going to be around a plenty!
