Canadian Start-Up creates a ‘Buzz’ for the Blind with new Wearable Tech

iMerciv launches their wearable technology for the Visually Impaired on Indiegogo

Toronto, ON, Oct 13, 2015 – Toronto based startup, iMerciv Inc. has announced that it is raising funds via crowdfunding on Indiegogo ( <http://igg.me/at/imerciv> http://igg.me/at/imerciv) to finish off their development on a revolutionary and groundbreaking product for the blind and partially sighted. The company has set out to raise $50,000 in order to run the first production line of their latest invention that is going to change the lives of people living with vision loss all over the world.

Orientation and Mobility is difficult for a person living with blindness or significant vision loss. In urban jungles like Toronto, navigating around busy streets with construction signs, barriers, promotional signboards and overhanging tree branches has always been a daily challenge for those living with vision loss. Traditional aids such as canes and guide dogs do not always address these obstacles thus resulting in irritable and sometimes severe head injuries. “With over 10 million visually impaired people in North America alone, and more than 314 million people living with vision loss across the world. This is a serious problem that must be addressed.” says Bin Liu, Co-Founder of iMerciv.

The newly launched BuzzClip is a small and discreet wearable that detects obstacles in one’s immediate environment and then notifies the wearer of these obstacles through intuitive vibrations. The BuzzClip offers essential upper body and head level obstacle detection and can be easily attached to many forms of clothing, making it a highly versatile and useful device. Something like this could really improve day-to-day life for a visually impaired person as it would reduce accidents and irritable head bumps. The BuzzClip would be a great tool to get one back into independent life while saving time and money on rehabilitation and care. The device has been successfully tested by hundreds of visually impaired people in Canada, the United States and India.
