Subject: An Article about NAC

Dear fellow Federationists,

For the past few years, the National Accreditation Council
for Blind and Low Vision Services (NAC) has not been given much attention by
the National Federation of the Blind because of its irrelevance in the field
of work with the blind. So few rehabilitation agencies for the blind are NAC
accredited, it seemed as if NAC was simply dying a slow death and we would
read its obituary soon. In the past year or so, some have attempted to
resuscitate NAC, bringing on a new Executive Director - Bill Robinson - and
trying to get a few more agencies accredited by its worthless standards, as
evidenced by the accreditation of Leader dogs for the Blind, a measure that
is the subject of a resolution written by Marion Gwizdala and Michael
Hingson, president and vice president respectively of the National
Association of Guide dog Users which was passed during the 2015 NFB
convention.

Here is an article that is a must-read for anyone wishing to
learn more about NAC and its history. More will appear in the February issue
of The Braille Monitor, so stay tuned!
