I did not hear any sessions dealing with that bill, Ted.
I don't know the bill number. Most call it the bicycle bill.
I remember reading about it in our newspaper, and some folks were talking
here in town, at the beginning of the session.
I think that the bill may have either been tabled in committee, or failed
passage in committee.

Rik,
In your State legislature observing, have you heard about the status
of a bill concerning it being illegal to ride a bicycle on two lane
highways?
Thanks for any information you can give me.

The vote in the US Senate to confirm Ryan Zinke as Secretary of Interior is
scheduled for midnight our time.
After that they, actually the Montana governor, Steve Bullock, will schedule
and then announce the date for the special election to replace our sole
Montana representative in the US House of Representatives.

The 30 hours of deliberation in the Senate will end at midnight.
I have been kind of keeping C-SPAN 2 turned on here at home, quite a bit
these several weeks, in order to follow the proceedings of cabinet
confirmations and the various other items they are addressing, or not
addressing.

I don't know how much you all have been following the Montana legislature.
And the vote about the mail only ballot.
But good on you, Joy. You had it on your radar.
As many of you probably know, the Republican leadership tried to kill it,
and urged their party members to vote it down, citing that too many people
would vote if it were a mail only ballot. And that kind of generated a lot
of national media attention. Rightly so, in my view.

But anyway, I imagine that it will be an easy thing for each precinct to
have an electronic ballot made available.

But those who will not and or cannot do the mail only ballot are surely wise
to let their own precinct workers, wishes and needs be known.
The personal touch always is best, is it not?

I wonder did any of you know about the house bill that addresses the use of
service animals?
I happened to be watching the 2nd ballot votes last week, and heard about it
it on the TV.
I don't have this state legislature channel unless I use my separate TV
input with the actual antennae and turn off my DirecTV. The House and Senate
sessions and many of the committee hearings are on that Montana PBS channel.
The bill as I understood it, was to allow people like businesses or whatever
who feel that a person with a service animal is not legitimate to prove it.
The supporters said that fraud is rampant and too many people now are coming
in with their pets and saying it is a service animal, when it is obvious
that it is not.

Montana does not have any certification program, and the wording of the bill
was left deliberately vague.

The only person who spoke in opposition to the bill was the lady who is
administrator of Department of Health Human Services.
She said that several disability groups had said that they were opposed to
the bill.

But the vote passed on the 2nd reading, 67 to 38 as I remember.

Discussion?
Late I was to learn. Of it
I wonder if any of you have heard about it?
Rik James

Is there a time to vote in May or something like that? I am confused.
