MONTANA REAL ID

 

Starting January 2019, Montana will begin issuing REAL ID driver licenses and
ID cards. 

 

You are not required to get a Montana REAL ID compliant license or ID;
however, a Montana REAL ID compliant license or ID or another acceptable form
of identification is required to fly domestically and access federal
facilities by October 2020. Alternative options, such as a passport or
passport card, are acceptable forms of identification as well. 

 

REAL ID COSTS

First Time MT License:  $50 +License fees

Transferring an out-of-state license or ID to Montana: $25 +License fees

If your MT license or ID card expires in the next 6 months, or has expired
less than 3 months ago $50 +License fees

If your MT license or ID is more than 6 months from expiring, or expired more
than 3 months ago $25 +License fees

RENEW or REPLACE A REAL ID $25 +License fees
