National Federation of the Blind of Montana

Board Meeting And Convention Minutes

 

October 12, 2019

 

.        The meeting was held at the FairBridge Inn in Missoula, Montana.

.        These minutes include the board meeting and the convention minutes.

 


Attendees:


President: Jim Marks

1st Vice President: Joy Breslauer (Attended by phone)

2nd Vice President: Sheila Leigland

Secretary: Robert Jaquiss

Treasurer: Edward (Ted) Robbins

Board member: James Aldrich

Board member: Linda Hurlock

Board member: Bruce Breslauer (Absent due to illness)

 

.        President Marks called the meeting to order at 8:30

.        Each board member present and by phone introduced themselves.

.        Ted moved to dispense with reading the convention minutes during
the board meeting. The motion was seconded and Passed unanimously.

.        Linda Moved to accept the minutes as emailed. The motion was
seconded and passed unanimously.

.        The treasurer's report was presented. Robert moved to approve the
report. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

 


New Business


 

.        Robert talked about a possible fundraising activity in conjunction
with the Missoula Lions Club. More research is needed.

.        Ted talked about having a fantasy ball.

.        President Marks asked the convention to think about fundraising.

.        The board meeting adjourned at 8:59

 


Actions taken During Convention


 


Elections


.         It was Moved and seconded that the nominating committee report be
accepted. The motion passed unanimously. The following were elected to the
board:

.         Travis Moses to fill the remainder of the term previously held by
Jeff Haworth.

.         Linda Hurlock

.         Bruce Breslauer

 


Other Business


 

.         After discussion, it was moved that we hold our 2020 convention in
Great Falls. No date was set and no 2020 convention planning committee was
appointed.

.         There was discussion about trying to have a BELL program in Great
Falls. Robert will contact MSDB.

 


Resolutions


 

 

 

.        The following resolutions were adopted by the assembled convention:

.        Resolution 2019-01 Regarding NFB-Newsline Funding for Montana

.        Resolution 2019-02 Regarding Protecting the Rights of Montana
voters

.        Resolution 2019-03 Regarding Competitive Integrated Employment in
Medicaid Programs

 


Actions Taken December 6, 2019


 

.        Regarding Washington Seminar; On Dec. 6, 2019 President Marks
polled the board. The Board approved sending Robert Jaquiss as delegate and
Travis Moses as alternate delegate to the Washington Seminar.
