FYI latest newsletter from Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services.
The Legislature is in session, and this program faces significant budget
cuts.  We can help by testifying how important VRBS is to Montanans.  The
proposed budget cuts come not from necessity, but rather from political
ideologies that the smallest government is the best.  We need to educate our
state policy makers that programs like this make all the difference, not
just for us, but for the entirety of Montana.  For example, VRBS does a
great deal to support blind Montanans becoming self-reliant tax payers.  Joy
Breslauer, our Advocacy and Public Policy Committee Chairperson, will have
more guidance for us on this budget topic and others.

Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services Budget Considered as Montana
Legislature Convenes

The 67th session of the Montana Legislature began last week and will be in
session for approximately 90 days. The Joint Appropriations Subcommittee on
Health and Human Services will be meeting the first part of the session to
consider budget bills that appropriate money and give state agencies, like
Montana Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind services, authority to spend
money. The committee is made up of members from the House Appropriations
Committee and the Senate Finance and Claims Committee. The Committee's

Employment and Transition offices in the state are temporarily closed to the
