Hello:

Just curious, who is attending the NFB convention?
I will be there as one of the representatives of Independence Science. In
the exhibit hall, we will be showing a multiline braille display
manufactured here in the U. S.
Have a great start to Summer.

Regards,

Robert

Hi,

Do you know about JBI? You should cee if they have the titles.
THE JBI LIBRARY
The JBI Circulating Library forms the cornerstone of the agency's work. It
allows blind, partially sighted and reading disabled young people to receive
a Jewish education alongside their sighted friends; it keeps the elderly,
many of whom are coping with sudden vision loss, involved in the community
of culture in which they grew up. JBI is dedicated to reaching out to
seniors, their families and caregivers in an effort to raise awareness of
JBI's unique services. The JBI Library, which is an Affiliated Library of
the United States Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind
and Physically Handicapped, has the largest collection of Jewish interest
books in the world for the blind, visually impaired and reading disabled,
containing well over 13,000 Talking Books, as well as several thousand
Braille titles and Large Print materials. The Library uses the broadest
possible interpretation of "Jewish interest" when selecting materials for
its collection, which encompasses poetry, fiction, history, biography, short
stories, humor, psychology and self help, Jewish studies, memoirs,
cookbooks, mysteries and more. The Bible, a wide variety of Haggadot, the
Yizkor service and prayer books for all major denominations are available in
Audio, Large Print and Braille formats.

Thanks, Dan. The two books I want I can find on Amazon, but not on Bard or
Bookshare.

Joy,

Ther Kindle app and the Kindle books are fairly accessible for iOS, as
George described. I've read a fair number of books on Kindle over the years,
but it is definitely best for a novel or any title that is pretty much
straight text. And there are a number of otherwise difficult to find titles.
For example, when my friend published a history of horse racing in Montana
and I wanted to support her effort, I was able to buy the book in Kindle
format and read it. Because it's a small Montana publisher, it isn't likely
to get into the Bookshare collection unless I buy and scan it myself. The
Montana Talking Book Library is producing it, I think, but like I said, I
wanted to support my author friend. (Actually, not that I think of it, I
think they invited her to narrate the audio book for MTBL.)

Kindle works, though like George suggests, I pay for a subscription to
Bookshare and read those books with Voice Dream Reader on my phone.

HTH
