[Nfbn-announce] Announceing the 2013 NFBN Scholarship Program

The National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska is pleased to
announce the 2013 NFBN Scholarship Program and the immediate release
of its application form.  This scholarship program affords five
finalists the opportunity to attend an all expense paid trip to the
NFBN state convention in North Platte from October 24th through the
27th and the chance to compete for one of five scholarships awarded by
the state affiliate and various chapters and divisions within the NFB
of Nebraska.  The National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska will be
awarding a $1000 scholarship.  In addition, the National Federation of
the Blind Lincoln and Omaha Chapters, along with the Nebraska
Association of Blind Students, will be presenting scholarship awards.
Anyone who has ever attended an NFBN convention will be proud to
attest to its ability to be a positive, life changing experience.
Any Nebraska student who is blind or visually impaired and who will be
attending a post- secondary institution and is interested in securing
an application for the 2013 NFBN Scholarship Program may obtain one by
visiting the National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska website at
www.ne.nfb.org or by contacting the Scholarship committee Chairman,
Shane Buresh, by phone at 402-465-5468 or  e-mail:
scholarship at ne.nfb.org.  For your convenience the form is both
attached and pasted below.

Attach the following:

(1) A letter telling us about your educational plans, vocational
goals, and awards. Tell us about yourself and how you deal with
situations involving your blindness. How will our scholarship help
you?

(2) A copy of all your transcripts.

(3) Two letters of recommendation.

(4) Contact the NFBN Scholarship Chairman, Shane Buresh, or the NFBN
State President, Amy Buresh, (see contact information at the bottom of
this form) to notify him or her of your intention to apply for the
scholarship.  Following your conversation, request that either the
president or chairman write a note to the scholarship committee on
your behalf.  Failure to complete this or any of the previously
requested items in this process will disqualify your application and
eliminate you from consideration.

(5) Your completed application and attachments must be sent both
electronically and through the U.S. mail.  Please insure that your
hardcopy materials are postmarked by September 20, 2013.

NOTE: The first place winner will be awarded a scholarship in the
amount of $1000 from the NFBN.  The Omaha and Lincoln chapters of the
NFBN, along with the Nebraska Association of Blind Students, will
award four additional scholarships to the remaining finalists.

In order to be considered for any of the scholarships, finalists are
REQUIRED to attend an all expense paid trip to the National Federation
of the Blind of Nebraska State Convention to be held in North Platte,
NE on October 24-October 27, 2013.
