Dear Federation Family and Friends,

Time is running out. The deadline to apply for the 2026 National Federation
of the Blind of Nebraska scholarship opportunities is this Sunday, March 1,
2026!

If you have been thinking about applying, please do not wait. If you know a
student or member who would benefit, please reach out to them today.

 

Gwendolyn M. Mangnall Convention Scholarship

Through the generosity of a bequest from Gwendolyn M. Mangnall, the National
Federation of the Blind of Nebraska is offering a limited number of
convention scholarships to help cover expenses for attending the 2026 State
Convention in Kearney, April 30 through May 3, 2026.

This opportunity is open to:

*	Active NFBN members, blind or sighted
*	Blind individuals interested in learning more about the National
Federation of the Blind of Nebraska

Applicants are asked to submit a letter explaining their interest, the
amount requested, what they hope to gain from attending, and how they plan
to contribute in the future, along with a letter of recommendation.

Scholarship funds will be distributed at the convention.

NFBN 2026 Scholarship Program

The National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska also invites legally blind
college students in Nebraska to apply for our 2026 merit-based scholarships.
Awards include:

*	A $1,500 first-place scholarship from NFBN
*	Additional scholarships from the Omaha and Lincoln chapters and the
Nebraska Association of Blind Students

Scholarship recipients are recognized during the Awards Banquet at the State
Convention. Finalists are required to attend the all-expense paid convention
April 30 through May 3, 2026 in Kearney.

Applications require a personal statement, transcripts, and two letters of
recommendation. Students must also notify the Scholarship Chair of their
intent to apply.

The deadline for both opportunities is Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM
Central Time. Applications must be submitted or postmarked by that date.
