[NFBN-Announce] Austin Awaits! Nebraska Convention Update

Hello Fellow Federationists and Friends,

It's hard to believe that we are already three-quarters of the way through
June and that National Convention is only a week and a half away!

This year's National Federation of the Blind National Convention will be
held July 3-8, 2026, at the JW Marriott Austin, 110 East 2nd Street, Austin,
Texas.

As of today, Nebraska has 71 people registered to attend convention in
person, along with 6 virtual attendees. For those who will be joining us
virtually, registration is still open. If you have not yet registered for
the virtual convention experience, you may do so by visiting

Whether you are attending in person or virtually, we are excited to have
Nebraska well represented.

Our Nebraska Caucus will be held on Sunday, July 5, at 9:00 p.m. in Room
201. This is a very important meeting, as we will discuss resolutions,
convention logistics, banquet ticket exchanges, and have an opportunity to
connect with current and former Nebraskans attending convention.

Please be sure to bring your banquet ticket to the caucus. The ticket you
receive at registration provides your banquet meal, but it does not
automatically reserve your seat. In order to sit and dine at the banquet,
your banquet ticket must be exchanged. We will collect your tickets at the
caucus and exchange them on your behalf so that you can be seated with the
Nebraska delegation.

If you would prefer to sit somewhere other than with Nebraska, please let us
know so that we do not spend time trying to locate you for the ticket
exchange.

Secretary Linda Mentink is coordinating the banquet ticket exchange. If you
have questions regarding banquet seating, please contact Linda at (402)
910-7360. Please note that this number will be used only during convention
and Linda is not able to receive text messages.

We are also hoping to provide a Zoom option for those who would like to
participate in the caucus remotely. We will do our best to make this
available and are hopeful that the hotel Wi-Fi will cooperate. Zoom
information is below.

This year, I, Jamie Richey, will serve as Nebraska's delegate, and our First
Vice President, Nancy Coffman, will serve as alternate delegate. If you need
assistance during convention, please do not hesitate to contact either of
us. Texting is generally the best option, as we will be attending meetings
throughout the day.

I am excited to see everyone in Austin next week! Austin is known as the
Live Music Capital of the World, but I know Nebraska will make enough noise
to give Texas a run for its money. For those who are unable to join us in
person this year, please know that we will be thinking of you and cheering
loudly for Nebraska throughout the week. You will certainly be missed.
