The Sports andRecreation Committee held its first conference call on 
Tuesday, April 26.  Thanks to Linda Melendez, Chair of the committee and all 
that attended to the call.

Greetings all,



As discussed on our 1st National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey 
Sports & Recreation Committee conference call that was held on Tuesday, 
April 25, 2017 at 8:00 pm our members were invited to participate in the 
"9th Annual Run in the Park 5K" being held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in 
Highland Park.  As mentioned this is a 5K event and all runners/ walkers are 
welcomed, however, they MUST be registered in order to participate.  The fee 
to register and participate is $28.00 before Saturday, May 6th and $30.00 
the day of the event Sunday, May 7th.  The event link with all the details 
and an option to register will be at end of this email after the double line 
of stars ****.  Please read the rest of this email thoroughly before 
registering!  If you do register please join the team I have already created 
for us called NFB of NJ Sports & Recreation.  I have already signed up and 
will be listed as the team administrator.



We will meet and walk as a group with EDGE.  Our group will meet at Highland 
Park High School which is the located to pick up our bibs. If you are 
planning to attend this event please let me know via email so I will know 
who I am gathering from the National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey 
Sports and Recreation Committee.  Also, I will know who to contact in the 
event our meet up location changes. In addition, it is very important to 
please provide your cell number in the email you sent to me confirming your 
participant.  This is in the event I need to contact you on the day of the 
event Sunday, May 7th.



If you require individual assistance it MUST be provided by you. 
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide one on one assistance.



If you are using Access Link for your transportation arrangements you can 
use the physical address for the Highland Park High School located at 102 N. 
5th Ave., Highland Park, NJ 08904; Cross Street is Montgomery Street.  I 
have confirmed with Access Link that service is provided to the Highland 
Park High School.  However, please confirm your Access Link Sunday 
availability as well as having sufficient time to reach the Highland Park 
High School for your bib pick and the start of the 5K before you register 
for this event!  This event is nonrefundable!



Key points and times to remember if you are participating are as follows:


Select the team name NFB of NJ Sports & Recreation when you register



5K Bib pickup is from 7:30 am to 8:45 am


5K Start time is promptly at 9:00 am



Street Fair along Raritan Avenue begins at 11 am



Also, please consider bringing a nonperishable food item if needed.



I encourage all of you to share the details of this event with others and 
invite them to join team NFB of NJ Sports & Recreation.   If you have any
