The Department of Human Services’ Commission for the Blind and Visually 
Impaired appreciates the dedication and commitment those of you on the front 
line have made to serve and treat individuals during this COVID – 19 
Pandemic. In order to assist you with protecting the health of individuals 
who are blind, deaf-blind, and visually impaired, and ensuring their access 
and safety while receiving treatment in a healthcare setting, we have 
provided you with a quick and easy reference Guide For Healthcare Workers 
Serving Individuals Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired Or Deaf-Blind.



This guide was created by the NJ Department of Human Services Commission for 
the Blind and Visually Impaired, in partnership with the Support Service 
Providers of New Jersey program, a part of the Center for Sensory and 
Complex Disabilities at The College of New Jersey.
