Condolences to our friend, Lenny Azzarone,
Sadly and proudly, I have provided the obituary of Leonard Azzarone, long
time member with the Northeast Chapter and founder and program director of
the National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey’s internet radio show,
ThruOurEyes from 2005 to 2014.
If memory serves me right, Lenny and his wife, Debbie, met members from the
chapter at a street fair in Fair Lawn. Both were impressed with the goals,
purposes and objectives of the chapter and the NFBNJ, Lenny offered to
volunteer to establish the internet radio show. I was fortunate to be
drafted as the host of ThruOurEyes. Shortly, Jane Degenshein, Trisha Ebel,
Jerry Moreno, hosted Always Look On The Brightside of Life, Linda Zani
Thomas and Johanna Baccun, hosted Looking Good Without Looking.
The numerous hours preparing, directing, providing the edits, and posting
kept Lenny extremely busy. I want to thank Debbie for her understanding
that for every Wednesday night and others, Lenny belonged to the Federation.
Lenny, thanks for all you have done for so many.
Rest in Peace!
With Much Respect,
Joe Ruffalo, President
National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey
