Subject: It's Helen Keller Deaf Blind Awareness Week!

Governor Phil Murphy has proclaimed 6/27 - 7/3 as 2021 Helen Keller Deaf
Blind Awareness Week here in NJ. The proclamation was issued in response to
the request of the Deaf-Blind Community Access Network of NJ (DBCANNJ) and
the Deaf-Blind League of NJ (DBLNJ) with the support of CBVI and 16 other
organizations.

On Friday evening, DB CAN NJ hosted a celebratory event entitled, "This Is
Us" to kick-off Helen Keller Deaf-Blind Awareness Week 2021. Dr. Davis
represented the leadership of NJ State Government and offered an inspiring
congratulatory message to all the celebrants.

The other key presenter was Doug Roland, who's short film, "Feeling
Through" was nominated for an Oscar. https://youtu.be/h1CqzntEZZ8
The film is about the life changing connection between a homeless teen and
a deaf-blind man. An accessible version of the film was shown by DBCANNJ on
6/18.

His presentation was followed by an awesome video featuring several CBVI
consumers with ASL interpreter Amber Galloway Gallego's passionate
interpretation of "This Is Me" from "The Greatest Showman". It can be found
on DBCANNJ's Facebook page. The video is captioned and interpreted. For a
described transcription version, please email dbcannj at gmail.com.

>From DBCANNJ: "Please watch and enjoy learning. Our Deafblind community is
strong, ABLE and proud, and we are honored to celebrate them."
