*VLANJ ARISE Speaker Series- "Achieving Resilience, Inspiration, &
Self-Empowerment"*



*This new speaker series will include a variety of topics to motivate and
inspire you to achieve your best self. You will engage with speakers who
bring a wide perspective in sharing their stories, life experiences, and
expertise to achieve a more positive mindset. Topics are inspirational and
educational, balancing practical life tasks, to pursuing creative arts and
encourage you to move towards your personal and professional goals, and a
feeling of greater self-empowerment.*



*We are excited to introduce our 2nd guest speaker, Dave Steele, aka "The
Blind Poet." Dave Steele is an award-winning poet, author, public speaker,
singer, and advocate for individuals with blindness. Diagnosed with
Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) in 2014, this genetic eye condition left Dave
with “severe vision loss.” Dave has used his skills as a songwriter and
singer to express his RP journey to his followers on social media and
beyond. Since it’s conception in 2015, the Stand by Me RP Facebook, has
become one of the largest social media RP groups in the world. As his
eyesight continued to decline, the words did not stop flowing. Dave began
writing two to three poems per day about his struggles and experiences.
Part creative genius, part therapy, Dave’s writing became a catalyst for
helping others and himself through RP. Steele’s first book, Stand By Me RP
Volume I, was released in February 2016. During its first week, Stand By Me
RP Volume I, went on to become the #1 poetic release in both America and
Australia. Stay tuned for the release of his new book "Austin's Amazing
Adventures," by The Blind Poet, Dave Steele.*
