*MYTH:* A good relationship means you don’t have to work at it.

*FACT:* Good relationships don’t just happen. The strongest and most
mutually satisfying relationships require effort from all involved. This
applies in relationships with family, friends, colleagues and lovers.

This month’s call will feature guest speakers who will share information on
how to identify healthy vs. unhealthy expectations in relationships, steps
that can lead to positive change and talk about their own experiences both
good and not so good with family, friends and significant others.

*Host: Krystle Allen*, CBVI Community Outreach Specialist

*Keynote: *

*Michael Pearson, Jr., Disability Rights Advocate and Assistant Director of
Children’s Advocacy, ARC Family Institute*

Will provide information on how to distinguish the difference between a
healthy vs. an unhealthy relationship and provide tips from “The Healthy
Relationships Survival Guide”

*Other Guest Panelists: *

*Stacie Leap, Chair, Blind Parents’ Group and Secretary, Blind Merchants of
PA*

Will discuss her experience of survival and triumph after an abusive
relationship

*Timothy West, Creative Director and Producer, “My Blurred Opinion” Podcast
 *

Will discuss his experience of overcoming overprotection and lowered
expectations to achieve a positive self-concept

*Misha McAdoo, Rowan College Student*

Will discuss her experience of navigating life as a single-parent, college
student who also happens to be blind and actively seeking a meaningful
relationship

*Ivis Alvarez-Trejo, Eye2Eye Peer Support Specialist *

Will talk about finding love, when and where you least expect it,
especially when you aren’t necessarily looking for a relationship

If you have any questions, or would like to suggest topics for future
Commission Connection Calls, please don’t hesitate to email:
