*Call for Entries: 2023 New Jersey Teen Media Contest Celebrates Everyday
Moments*

*Deadline for Entries is April 26, 2023*

February 13*, *2023

(TRENTON)* –* As of today, the New Jersey Department of Human Services is
inviting teenagers across the state to begin submitting entries for the
28th Annual New Jersey Teen Media Contest, highlighting Human Services’
mission to support families.

The contest, run by Human Services’ Division of Family Development, is open
to all New Jersey middle- and high school-aged students. This year, the
contest will once again accept entries in the hand-painted/hand-drawn and
written word categories.

This year’s contest challenges teens to illustrate – through art or the
written word – the following theme: *How do your parents or loved ones make
everyday things special? What do they do to celebrate these small
milestones and achievements?*

“*This is a wonderful opportunity for young artists to showcase their
talents through their artwork. Families come in all shapes and sizes but
what matters is that children feel loved and supported. This contest helps
us highlight the importance of supporting strong families. I encourage all
budding artists in middle school and high school to submit an entry,*” said
Commissioner Sarah Adelman.

“*Every year we are blown away by the talent that abounds in our state. I
look forward to seeing this year’s submissions, and seeing the theme of
celebrating everyday moments come to life,*” said Deputy Commissioner of
Social Services Elisa Neira.

[image: How can New Jersey be a Better Place for all Ages? Share your
experiences and ideas at an official listening session. We’re all aging
every day — an age-friendly New Jersey helps everyone. The New Jersey
Age-Friendly Advisory Council and the Department of Human Services have
been tasked by Governor Murphy to promote inclusive communities for people
of all ages. The Council is holding two virtual listening sessions to hear
from older residents and those who care for them about what the state can
do. With help from your testimonies, the Council will identify best
practices for social participation, housing, transportation, and
age-friendly employment; address disparities faced by the state’s diverse
population of older adults; and shape the blueprint on how to advance
age-friendly practices across the state. Help make New Jersey a better
place for all ages by signing up today. Session #1: Tuesday, March 14th 10
a.m. to noon. Session #2: Tuesday, March 21st 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sign
language interpreters and real-time captioning will be provided. Listening
sessions will be livestreamed on the official DHS YouTube page. To register
to testify, click on this object. To provide written testimony, email
