Hello NFBNJ members. This is Eve, NJ OrCam rep, with exciting 2024 updates
about new features and devices empowering independence for the BVI
experience.
I am proud to be starting my 8th year in this role. I enjoy sharing
information and opportunities for people to try these game changing smart
devices. There
are now 4 Orcam smart device options offered, at 4 different price points,
meeting a variety of user needs. Payment plans are available.

The Read and Read 3 are 2 lightweight handheld units, 6 inches long, shaped
like a flat, wide magic marker and weighing one and a half ounces. The
smaller My Eye units, weigh half an ounce, are 4 inches long, and
magnetically attach to eyeglasses to hold the camera in position.

No eyesight is required to operate the My Eye units.

In addition to the original features such as OCR reading, smart reading,
face recognition, consumer product and barcode identification, plus more,
here are some of the newer options: magnification, contrast manipulation of
text on screen, multilingual reading and translation, summarization,
accommodations for physical limitations, a “what’s in front of me” feature
and natural language understanding.

Natural language understanding is the tech term for speaking and
communicating with devices like Alexa or Siri. NLU makes OrCam devices
fully operational with speech.

Other recent additions are optional accessories such as the stationary
tabletop stand which holds all OrCam devices and enables hands free use of
the device. The stand is lightweight, and collapsible making it portable
for on the go use when away from home.

My goal is to impart awareness by letting folks know how OrCam assistive
smart devices work as AI personal assistants. Orcam is changing daily life
for thousands of people worldwide 7 years old and up.

I understand travel and transportation can be limiting factors. For that
reason I offer free in-home, or close to home, demonstrations and demo
events throughout New Jersey.

OrCam devices are made to be personal AI assistants helping over the course
of one’s vision loss journey.

Best,
Eve
