Growing up Jewish in Iowa during the depression and the war, the girls have
fairly normal lives, aside from their inability to escape each other's
unwanted company and friends. In adulthood, their shared existence becomes
more complex and hateful, as they disagree about college, marriage, sex, and
motherhood. Strong language, explicit descriptions of sex, and violence.
