UPCOMING OCTOBER ACTIVITIES

              On Saturday, September 30 at Yesterday's the Columbia Chapter
Book Club will meet to discuss Camino Island by John Gresham.  The book is
available on BARD from Talking Book Services.  You must provide your own
transportation and pay for your dinner.  Saturday, October 14 is the second
annual Step it up Walk at the Drew Wellness Center.  Cost is $20 to walk
with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:00 a.m.
Saturday, October 28 is a yard sale at the Federation Center.  

 

AUGUST 10 COLUMBIA CHAPTER MEETING

              As President Tiffiny Mitchell was attending the NFB BLAST
program, First Vice President Steve Cook gaveled the meeting to order at
6:15 p.m.  Steve Cook welcomed everyone attending the meeting and September
birthdays and visitors were recognized.  Ike Nelson's kitchen crew served a
delicious chicken dinner. The Columbia Chapter sold 131 Fun Day tickets and
won $300 for its treasury.  The winning ticket seller who received $50 was
Jim Carter of Rock Hill.  The winning ticket purchaser who received $500 was
Hollings Markith, a baby whose mother actually bought the ticket, is also
from Rock Hill.  Both are donating their winnings to the Rock Hill Chapter.
Elections for chapter board positions will take place at the October 12
chapter meeting.  The nominating committee consists of Shannon Cook as
Chair, David Houck, Ernest Gallman, Sherlene Potts and Laura Thompson.  Our
guest speaker was Dupree McKenzie who spoke on his history of work with the
blind as an orientation and mobility instructor and he believes that the
blind are his extended family.  Those wishing to participate in the birthday
pantry club for 2018 need to contact Dorothy Barksdale at 765-1622 and give
her your list of items by the November chapter meeting.

              The 50-50 drawing was made and Priscilla Alston won $47.
Kattie Jackson gave the Treasurer's report and there was $1,273.25 in the
treasury.
