COLUMBIA CHAPTER NEWSLETTER – NOVEMBER 15, 2018

 

$1 NFB LAS VEGAS CONVENTION TICKETS!

              $1 Las Vegas NFB 2019 Convention tickets were passed out at
the September 20 Columbia Chapter meeting.  If you did not get your 50 pack
or if you need more, contact David Houck at 254-3777.  The drawing is set
for Saturday, January 5 at the Statewide Seminar.  The winning ticket buyer
will receive $300 and the seller will receive $100.  The chapter selling the
most tickets will receive $300 for their treasury.  Let’s sell these tickets
and be sure your filled out ticket stubs and money are turned in to David
Houck at the Federation Center by January 5, 2019.  Buy some for yourself
and you might win $400.  Let’s not let Columbia lose out on the $300 prize
for the chapter treasury.  These funds will help transportation efforts for
those flying from Charlotte, NC to Las Vegas in getting to and from
Charlotte and the Mandalay Bay Hotel.  If you need information concerning
flying to Las Vegas at a group rate, contact Tiffiny Mitchell at 603-2098.

 

NOVEMBER 22 THANKSGIVING DINNER

              The third annual Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thursday,
November 22, 2018 at the Federation Center located at 119 S. Kilbourne Road,
Columbia, SC, 29201.  The time of the dinner will be 2:00 o’clock p.m.  the
menu consists of:  baked turkey, baked chicken, ham, rice and gravy,
dressing, mac and cheese, potato salad, green beans, lima beans, cranberry
sauce, sweet potato soufflé, dinner rolls and sweet potato pie and cake.
Drinks will also be served with meals.  The cost of the meal is $15.00 for
adults and $7.00 for children 5 thru 12 years old.  If you are planning to
attend this dinner please bring your money to the Columbia chapter meeting
in November.  Also, you may call Dorothy Barksdale at 803-765-1622 if you
are planning to attend so that we can get a number of people attending.  Ike

NOVEMBER 15 COLUMBIA CHAPTER MEETING

              President Tiffiny Mitchell gaveled the meeting to order at
6:15 p.m  The meeting hall was packed as the Church of the Harvest hosted a
sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner, singing of patriotic songs and hymns, and the
devotional message from Rev. Ken Jumper.  We appreciate all the volunteers
from The Harvest who prepared food, decorations and who participated in any
way.

              The book club is reading “The Walk” by Richard Paul Evans.

email at cookcafe at sc.rr.com or by phone at 254-0222.  It will be available
on talking book as well in a downloadable format.
