JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

At the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, Our mission is to provide quality individualized vocational rehabilitation services, independent living services and prevention-of-blindness services to blind and visually impaired consumers leading to competitive employment and social and economic independence.
The South Carolina Commission for the Blind welcomes applications for the rewarding career of BRIDGE Program Coordinator.

The BRIDGE Pre-Apprenticeship Program Coordinator (Building Readiness for the Individualized Development of Gainful Employment) position is primarily responsible for coordinating an 8 week paid training, to prepare consumers for entering into employer sponsored apprenticeship programs or job placement. The Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing training schedule and facilitating Job Club discussion groups to enhance consumer's job readiness skills, in addition job shadowing and/or hands on training that is comparable to the consumer's career goal/individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years experience as program support in a social services setting.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

Proficiency in MS Office, ability to write at a professional level, strong interpersonal skills. Ability to contact business partners, present business benefits of On the Job Training (OJT) with SCCB consumers. Skills or ability to use consumer database programs. Familiarity with or the ability to become familiar with equipment used to enable visually impaired or blind individuals to work in a business environment. Ability to coordinate with a multidisciplinary team including EBMRC staff, VR Counselors, and employers. Reports directly to the Director of Training and Employment. Required to proactively report regularly to supervisor for scheduled activities, progress, and goal completion. Travel is required. Some overnight stays may be required. Professional attire is required for contact with business professionals. Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 pounds.
