JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

At the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, Our mission is to provide quality individualized vocational rehabilitation services, independent living services and prevention-of-blindness services to blind and visually impaired consumers leading to competitive employment and social and economic independence.
The South Carolina Commission for the Blind welcomes applications for the rewarding career of Regional Director.

Manage the Vocational Rehabilitation Program of the SCCB in the Pee-Dee and Low Country section of the state, subsequently called Region III. Provides management and training in Region III as directed by the Director of Consumer Services and the Commissioner.

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's degree and professional experience in human services or social services programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling or a Master's in Social Service area and four (4) years of rehabilitation experience. A CRC is required.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

Extensive knowledge of the Vocational Rehabilitation process and Federal and State law is essential to the program evaluation. A Clear understanding of the goals and objectives of the VR Department and ability to motivate VR staff and attaining productivity standards. The ability to use proper written and verbal skills. Must have experience in personnel management, staff development, and supervision. The position is under direct supervision of the Director of Consumer services. Travel to various district offices is required. Also, travel to other state agencies, employers and disability groups, etc. is required. Travel required with occasional overnight stays. Must be able to lift, carry, our pull up to 25 pounds.
