Positive Note 1762

Greetings Fellow Federationists:

I would like to officially welcome the Member-at-large chapter
of the NFB of SC as the newest member of our federation family. The chapter
was organized on April 14, and the chapter held its first monthly meeting on
May 12. The purpose of the chapter is to provide blind South Carolinians
who are unable to participate in the activities of a local chapter, the
opportunity to play a role in the NFB of South Carolina, to promote the
general welfare of the blind of the state and of the nation, and to function
as an integral part of the National Federation of the Blind. Officers
elected were Ed Bible President, David Bundy Vice President, Mary Sonksen
Secretary, and Dondra Bible Treasurer.

Please continue to register for the 2020 NFB national
convention which will be held everywhere July 14-18. The deadline to
register is June 15, 2020. Registration for this year's national convention

I am sorry to report Milford Haycraft, a longtime member of
our Spartanburg chapter, passed away this past Thursday, May 14. Let's all
of us in our Federation family keep his wife, Dianne, and family in our
thoughts and prayers.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is
not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day, we raise
the expectations of blind people because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want:
blindness is not what holds you back.

Final Thought: Transforming dreams into reality: As you begin to succeed
you will find out there is more to know in other related areas. Keep
learning in order to make your success blossom like a flower.
