You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams.

Subject: Sunrise and Shine is back from Convention. Thursday, July 22nd, a special presentationyou won't want to miss!

Hello to one and all!

I'm happy to see that Sunrise and Shine with NFB Newsline is settling into its new schedule for 2021 and that fans of the popular Zoom call can plan their schedules accordingly. We are now gathering on the second and fourth Thursday's of each month beginning at 9:00 AM. This means of course that Rise and Shine will be happening tomorrow, Thursday, July 22nd, (and for those planning ahead, again on August 12th).

We hope you will be able to join us for our exploration of NFB Newsline and other related topics. Our discussions about Newsline don't take up all of the time we spend together though, there is always time for welcoming new guest speakers and participants and for lots of warmth and laughter.

Now that The NFB’s National Convention is behind us, we can spend a bit of time discussing our experiences, especially when it comes to NFB Newsline. I actually learned a great deal while preparing to host one of the Newsline Open House breakout rooms and while attending the Newsline seminar.

Before we get into that discussion though, I am very happy to announce that one of our Sunrise and Shine family members, Karolyn Campbell, will be leading our annual discussion on hurricane preparedness. Karolyn has been putting together an exciting and fun presentation and can hardly wait to share it with us all. If you were on our Florida typhoon call last summer, you might remember that it was one of our most popular and fun calls of the year. Everybody contributed something useful and there seemed to be lots of laughter and smiles. What hurricane readiness tips do you have to share and what will Karolyn teach us? Join us tomorrow morning and we’ll all find out.

Most of us have become pretty familiar with attending meetings using the Zoom platform over the past year and in fact, we’ve been using Zoom since we launched Rise and Shine last year. If you’re not used to using Zoom or if it’s still giving you difficulties, don’t give up just yet. You can access the meeting by clicking on he below listed web link, by using the one tap mobile feature or by dialing the phone number provided and entering the access code when prompted.

The regulars on our call are always warm and welcoming and are thrilled to see new faces.

Hope to have you with us Thursday morning, see below for the Zoom info. The first person caught snoozing on the call has to fill the gas tank on the bugout bus heading north, (so stay alert Scott).

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me before the call at our NFB Newsline of Florida toll-free support line. Check the bottom of this email for the Zoom call-in instructions.
