You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams.

On October 7, 2021 the Columbia Chapter of the National Federation of the
Blind of South Carolina held its monthly meeting. There were 41 members in
attendance, the majority in person, but others joined via Zoom. We began the
meeting by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, a prayer, the NFB Pledge, and
the One Minute Message. Ike Nelson welcomed visitors and gave us the menu
for the night. Thanks was given for those who volunteered in making and
providing the meal. Members were reminded to sell Marriott tickets and Rocky
Bottom tickets. We were also reminded to bring in donations for the Auction.
Also we learned that an iPad was donated to the chapter by member Andrew
Adams. We will be selling tickets for a chance to win this brand new iPad
for $5 per ticket or 3 for $10. The drawing will be at our December meeting
on 12/09/2021.

After this, the chapter turned to the business of annual elections. Here are
the results.

President: Ike Nelson

First Vice President: Steve Cook

Second Vice President: David Bundy

Secretary: Casey Rose

Treasurer: Thom Spittle

Member At Large: Shelley Coppel

Member At Large: Mag Floyd

Congradulations to this new board.

The meeting closed with our 50/50 drawing. It was won by Pam Schexnider. She
turned around and gave the winnings back to the chapter to go into the
treasury. We look forward to seeing each of you next month on November 11th
when we welcome our friends, The Church of the Harvest who will provide our
meal and a much anticipated program.
