Hello All!
My family will be attending my grandfather's funeral and burial today;
therefore, the Positive Note will go out later Monday or first thing
Tuesday.
Thank you all for continuing to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. The
visitation was very hard for my children last night.
Francis Hipp
July 15, 1932 - September 21, 2021
West Columbia, South Carolina - Francis Asbury Hipp, 89, passed away
Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at White Oak Manor in Newberry, SC.
Born in Saluda, he was the son of the late Wilbert A. and Willie Mae Fulmer
Hipp, and husband of Maggie Gillett Maffett Hipp. A graduate of Clemson
University in 1955 with a degree in Animal Science. He first worked as an
Extension Agent for Lexington County and then worked for Agrico Chemical as
a salesman /manager. In 1972, he started a successful career in real estate
being very active in the Realtor community for 49 years. He was a sergeant
in the US Army and is a Korean War Veteran. He was an active member of
Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia as a Sunday school teacher
and a leader in the church. Mr. Hipp served on Epworth Children's Home as
well as being a Lay Servant at Christopher Towers Retirement Community for
25 years. He was also a licensed Auctioneer for 31 years, assisting his dear
friend Jimmy Derrick in raising millions of dollars in over 150 charity
auctions in the state of South Carolina.
He enjoyed time with his family, especially grand and great grandchildren.
He loved Clemson and Georgia football, and spending time at his farm in
Saluda, gardening and raising cows.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Maggie Gillett Maffett Hipp of West
Columbia, two sons, Jeff Hipp (Janice) of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Keith
Hipp of Irmo, two grandchildren, Jennifer Bazer and Cristen Hipp, two
great-grandchildren, Cade and Kaylin Bazer, and a sister, Trudy Nichols of
Saluda.
Mr. Hipp is preceded in death by a brother, Howell E. Hipp, and a sister,
Marjorie Mills.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM, Sunday, September 26,
2021 at Ramey Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, September 27, 2021 at
Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia with Rev. John Jordan
officiating. Social distancing will be observed and masks are requested. You

through Trinity United Methodist Church, West Columbia.
Interment will follow at 3 PM, at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery
in Saluda, SC.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church at 1201 Mohawk
Drive, West Columbia 29169 and Christopher Towers Retirement Community at
1805 Devine Street, Columbia 29201.
