> West Columbia, South Carolina - Francis Asbury Hipp, 89, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at White Oak Manor in Newberry, SC.
> Born in Saluda, he was the son of the late Wilbert A. and Willie Mae Fulmer Hipp, and husband of Maggie Gillett Maffett Hipp. A graduate of Clemson University in 1955 with a degree in Animal Science. He first worked as an Extension Agent for Lexington County and then worked for Agrico Chemical as a salesman /manager. In 1972, he started a successful career in real estate being very active in the Realtor community for 49 years. He was a sergeant in the US Army and is a Korean War Veteran. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia as a Sunday school teacher and a leader in the church. Mr. Hipp served on Epworth Children's Home as well as being a Lay Servant at Christopher Towers Retirement Community for 25 years. He was also a licensed Auctioneer for 31 years, assisting his dear friend Jimmy Derrick in raising millions of dollars in over 150 charity auctions in the state of South Carolina.
