Hello All!

Shannon has help tweak our sponsorship letter to include in-kind items as
well as there were a few folks asking to obtain items for our welcome bags
and door prizes.

See attached and the letter is also in the body of the message for you all
to distribute as you need.

Dear Members and Friends of the Federation:

The National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina is a nonprofit
organization of the blind working together to improve the quality of life
for all blind people in South Carolina. The NFB of SC is an affiliate of the
National Federation of the Blind, the nation’s oldest and largest
organization of the blind, and for the blind. The NFB advocates for the
rights and abilities of blind South Carolinians.

With around 500 members, the NFB of SC consists of approximately 20
chapters. The eight divisions in the NFB of SC are the SC Association of
Blind Students, the Blind Merchants Division, the Computer Science &
Technology Division, the Senior Blind Division, the Parents of Blind
Children Division, the Sports and Rec Division, the Communities of Faith
Division, and the SC Association of Guide Dog Users Division.

The NFB of SC is an energetic organization dedicated to serving and teaching
the blind in the state and nation. Its ongoing programs are designed to
empower blind people to improve the economic, social, and spiritual aspects
of their lives. Blind people can live the lives they want. Blindness is not
what holds them back.

The National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina will be holding its
66th annual state convention August 25-28, 2022 at the North Charleston
Marriott. It is extremely important for us to look at alternate ways to
raise funding to reduce the cost to the blind who attend. These annual
conventions provide exhibits, a Friday evening Reception, Saturday and
Sunday morning continental breakfasts, and a Saturday evening Banquet. With
the above-named eight divisions meeting, numerous committee meetings, and
three convention general sessions, it is no wonder that hosting a convention
today requires well thought out planning, and detailed budgeting. This is
where you or your organization can help.

As a nonprofit, we welcome monetary donations; however, other types of
contributions can be just as valuable to us during our state convention. We
draw for door prizes during our general sessions as a fun way to keep the
audience engaged in the various speakers and topics. Usually, our door
prizes are new items valued at $10 or more. Donations of door prizes help
the NFB of SC chapters reduce their expenses for the chapters or individuals
who donate. Door prize gifts can be household items, food items, gift sets,
gift cards, home décor items, etc. There is no limit as to what can be used
as door prizes. If you own a business and choose to donate some of your
products or services, those would be graciously appreciated.

Similarly, in kind donations are useful. People have donated of their time
to help put together welcome bags, driven to gather supplies, donated
supplies, assisted with transporting members to ensure they are able to
attend the state convention, and much more.

Your donation will be recognized during the state convention, if desired.
Use this opportunity to get your name out there to the blind community! You
can make the difference in defraying these ever-increasing costs and at the
same time enhance the experience of those who attend. Your donation is tax
deductible and the value to the blind is priceless.

If you choose to cover the cost of any supplies, you can send your
contribution to the Federation Center of the Blind, 119 S. Kilbourne Rd.,
Columbia, SC 29205. Checks can be made payable to NFB of SC. You may also
submit your sponsorship donation via PayPal. Click on the Donate link on
the NFB of SC website <http://www.nfbofsc.org> www.nfbofsc.org.

With either method you select, please designate “convention donation for xx”
in the comment/for field. Otherwise, the donation may not be used for its
intended purpose.

The NFB of SC is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. For your
convenience, the Tax ID# is 57-0514410.
