December 8 2022 Columbia Chapter Newsletter

The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. by President Isaiah Nelson. After a warm welcome and announcements, Steve Cook announced a visitor, Harriett Brinkley. There was singing of, “Jesus Loves the Little Children” and a blessing of the food. The Christmas Feast cost $10 but I know everybody got more than their money’s worth. Ike prepared corn, green beans, potato salad, sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese, to name a few along with a number of desserts. Christopher Floyd did his magic by preparing pork tenderloin and grilled chicken. A number of members pitched in and everyone received a gift bag full of goodies. Andrew Adams collected canned a number of non-perishable items and goods for his project. It was first announced that Mary Peters’ mother had passed but she was in poor condition and is in the hospital. Please pray that Mary’s mother gets well and recovers soon.

David Houck did a devotional on Luke Chapter 2, showing that no wise men were at the nativity. In Matthew Chapter 2 it shows that they saw a young child. King Herod then had all children 2 and under killed, thinking he would eliminate Jesus Christ from being King of Israel. However an angel told Joseph to flee to Egypt until Herod’s death, at which time he moved to Nazareth. Therefore, the wise men were not in the Nativity scene.

Thom Spittle sang, “Mary Did You Know.’ Tina Holmes collected dimes for the Dime A Difference chapter fund drive. Gifts were distributed to everyone and Chris Davis won the $5 big gift basket drawing. Isaiah made a drawing for $26 which was won by Maggie Floyd. Six kitchen helpers received a $25 gift card. Other drawings were also made consisting of various items.

Members were urged to contact David Houck to say that they were attending the January 7, 2023 Statewide Seminar which runs from 10 to 4. Ike needs a number of people to prepare food for. There will be a barbecue in the Spring of 2023. Christopher Floyd spoke of using the internet and Facebook to raise chapter funding. Following a full evening of fun, food and activity, the meeting was adjourned. See you at the January 7 Statewide Seminar and the January 12 Columbia Chapter Christmas meeting!

Respectfully submitted,

David Houck

Acting Secretary
