NFB of SC President Marty McKenzie says the SC Emergency Management
Division app is accessible.

I was interviewed by WLTX TV 19 concerning Ian. Listen to your local
TV station, radio station or weather radio to keep up on hurricane
instructions.

As anyone, if you are in a flood prone zone or if you have trees which
might fall on your property you may want to get together with a family
member, friend or find a local shelter.

Secure things on your property that might be blown around by winds up
to 50 mph.

Have a week's worth of non-perishable food, water and medications on
hand in case of electrical or water outages. It could take a few hours
to a few days to get your residence up and running, depending upon
damages.

If your residence or property is damaged, get your insurance agent
involved quickly so you can begin restoration.

If trees or power lines are down, do not venture out.

If you need immediate help, contact Red Cross as they can help with
food, clothing or temporary shelter. If you need rescue call 911.
Remember, if winds are above 40 mph you may have to wait.

If you survived Hurricane Hugo without damage, you might be OK. If you
did not flood during the 2015 flood, you may be OK. If you are unsure,
do not take chances. You are better off safe than sorry.

Contact the Federation Center of the Blind at 803-254-3777 or by email
at nfbsc at sc.rr.com if you need help and we will contact the We Care
committee or see if thee is any way we can be of assistance.

Don't forget - now is the time to charge your iphones and laptops!

By the way, I just heard longtime federationist Milton Tant passed
away and the funeral will be held at Greenlawn in Spartanburg on
Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.
