Research Participation Request: Understanding User Privacy & Security Perspectives on the Be My Eyes App


 

The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.


Being conducted by: Carnegie Mellon University


Purpose of the Study


We are hoping to better understand Blind and low vision users’ perceptions and experiences with regards to privacy when using the Be My Eyes assistive technology app. This survey is part of a research study we are currently doing at Carnegie Mellon University on privacy and security practices of the Be My Eyes app.


Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study 


Participants will be asked to complete a survey on the Qualtrics survey platform. We expect the survey to take approximately 15 minutes to complete.


Proposed Participant Compensation


Yes, Participants who fully complete the survey will be compensated with a $5 Amazon gift card.


Link or Instructions for Participants to Enter the Study 


You are invited to participate in a survey about user privacy and security perspectives of the Be My Eyes assistive technology app. This survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. All participants who complete this survey in its entirety will receive a $5 Amazon gift card. In order to participate in this study you must be 18 years of age or older, have used the Be My Eyes App within the last three months, identify as being Blind, low vision, or visually impaired, and reside in the United States. 

This survey will be administered via the Qualtrics survey platform.
