Shelley and I would also like to thank James and Patrice for representing
our affiliate in Washington D.C. this week as they, along with other blind
seniors, advocated to increase Federal funding for the Older Blind Program.
We are also extremely proud of our NFB of SC Senior division and the
National Senior Division for all of their support in this much needed
endeavor.

Speaking of supporting our members accomplishments, I would like to
recognize James Byers of our Cherokee Chapter and Patrice Williams of our
Sumter chapter who are in Washington D. C. this week to advocate for more
funding being awarded to programs serving Older Blind people across the
country. They are representing South Carolina during this national push to
shine sunlight on this long-ignored significant need for those 55 and over.
The federal government awards approximately $10 per blind senior per year. I
am glad that our affiliate has two individuals who care deeply about this
issue. Thank you James and Patrice.
