Hello All,

This is the last week to sign up to volunteer for our Flying Pig BLT
Station! Again, the event takes place on Sunday May 6, 2018. There is still
time to make your travel plans. I am putting out a special challenge to my
Cincinnati Chapter to step up and show the affiliate what we are made of.
The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon is celebrating their 20th anniversary and
we can be proud to be a part of it.

For the third year in a row, we will line up at Mile 9 of the Half Marathon,
on Madison Road, and cheer on runners and hand out Puffs tissues to them as
they go by. For this task, the affiliate will get paid $500! All we need to
do is make sure we have 30 members, family and friends signed up to
participate. For those of you who were there, you will remember how much the
runners appreciated us, not only for the tissues, but for the moral support
we were able to provide. This is a great way for us to give back to the
community, while getting the brand of the National Federation of the Blind
of Ohio out in the public!

On the morning of May 6, we will plan to meet in the GCB parking lot at 1501
Madison Rd Cincinnati OH 45206 at 6:30 AM. We will then walk down to our
spot along Madison Rd at Mile 9 and get ourselves ready for the runners. We
are usually done by 9:30 AM. Then it's time for a hearty breakfast. More
specific details will follow.

As of today, we only have 10 volunteers, and we are required to have 30. The
last day to register is April 27, 2018. Please talk to your chapter members
and make your travel plans soon! Thank you so much for your service.

Here are the instructions to register as a volunteer:

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
